Please excuse the long post - I have a lot to say about this amazing place! My son has been sober for more than 4 years and it would not have been possible without the support, dedication and expertise of Northbound. We were from out of state, so putting him on the plane alone, in such a fragile state of mind was terrifying, but I will never forget the call I got from David Gates at the airport saying “I’ve got him”. David was light-hearted and made him feel comfortable right away, even taking him to get a burger. That small gesture was indicative of all the little, yet incredibly important things they did to create a healing and welcoming environment. I burst into tears and felt the most tremendous relief, and I could hear the relief in my son’s voice too. He was in the best hands, and from that point forward, every single staff member we got to know was inspiring, compassionate, loving, and firm when they needed to be. Farah and Garrett were his counselor/program manager dream team! Northbound doesn’t just heal the patient, they offer family programs to help the family as well, and to help us learn how to support our child. I had the common misconception that a successful recovery program could be completed in thirty days. Farah and Garrett helped me understand the importance of a long-term program, and I can’t imagine it any other way! Staying in the recovery home while he began working and re-integrating into life was beneficial beyond measure. They absolutely provided my son with a new life and continue to offer support well after his completion of the program. He built such a positive network, that he decided to stay in Southern California and still attends meetings with many people he met during recovery. I got my son back, and for that I am forever grateful and indebted to Northbound. I could not recommend their program more.

My Grandson came to Northbound from another facility. There really are no adequate words to express my overwhelming GRATITUDE and APPRECIATION for Northbound and their AWESOME staff and program. He had lost his way, was addicted and feeling hopeless. At Northbound, he was welcomed with the facilities, staff, expertise, groups, support, and direction he needed as well as the caring, love and concern that he desperately needed to get well. He will tell you Northbound saved his life. He recently expressed to me that he truly has never been as content and happy as he is now! He is surrounded by continual support even after completing the program. And most importantly, he now has the tools, support and confidence necessary to navigate the ups and downs of life. When I see my Grandson now I see a very happy, motivated young man, excited about his future and opportunities he never had thought possible before. My prayer would be anyone suffering from the debilitating disease of addition could have the blessed opportunity to be immersed in this program. Truly, if you have a family member with this disease you will find immediate guidance and relief for yourself and your loved one the minute you call. Our family is eternally indebted to the beautiful souls at Northbound.

Northbound saved my life. I was addicted to drugs for over 16 years. I was transferred to Northbound from Menninger and that's when my journey really began. I was picked up from the airport by David Gates who has stood by my education and sobriety for the past 17 months. While at Northbound I got my CADAC and learned the coping skills that have made my sobriety successful. If your looking to change your life this place is the best of the best from the accommodations to the groups to the outings and staff. Northbound treatment center was an amazing exsperience for me. The staff is amazing, the program itself is GREAT. Incredible insight and knowledge on addiction. I highly recommend Northbound Treatment services!

I own an operate Monarch Place Recovery, a female sober living home and we are referred many clients from Northbound. The staff is very organized and experienced with all levels of care. They are transparent when referring a client and the needs of the client. If we need to refer a client back to treatment Northbound is one of our top picks! Always impressed with this facility!

No other treatment center has worked for me besides Northbound. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Joanna's Trauma Program that is only offered at Northbound has been key to my recovery and overcoming the core beliefs that I have within myself, giving me a new lease on life.

Dear, Northbound staff You have no idea how much you’ve changed our lives in two months . We came to you a complete and utter mess. Both of us. My son, because he couldn’t figure out why he keep using drugs and couldn’t stop . And me, because no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t help him. Over the course of this 2 months , you’ve empowered me to make the decisions I knew in my gut were right for my son, even when others didn’t agree or understand. You encouraged me when I felt like things were never going to get better and made me feel like I might actually be able to pull off being my sons mom. The family program made me laugh / cry — hard — with tears streaming down my face and my side hurting. Good laughter — the kind you need when you’re struggling to get through addiction of your child every day . And every chance you got, you looked me or spoke and told me that you thought I was doing a good job. I am so grateful for you all. But all of this is nothing compared to what you’ve done for my son. You have taken a boy, uncomfortable and pained by his own demons , and taught him to respect that body, to pay attention to it, to give it what it needs, to speak up for it and to live in it. I’m amazed by his progress — I honestly didn’t believe it was possible. But you did. You see his heart and he knows it. When he said me last night that the links program and the staff helped save his life. My heart was full of gratitude . I always knew this program was amazing but know I truly have had my own experience . Thank you for all you do . you are all amazing.

I spent 90 days in Northbound Treatment center last year. This was an excellent experience. I met a lot of fantastic people and was taught how to live a happy life, clean and sober. I was comfortable, well-accomodated, and intellectually stimulated my entire stay in beautiful Newport Beach/ Costa Mesa. Learned how to surf, got to play and record original music in a studio, went to Angels games in Anaheim, meanwhile taking an honest look at myself and taking action to improve my future. Also, my insurance policy covered most of it! (blue cross blue shield) I would most definitely recommend Northbound to anyone who is struggling with alcoholism and/or drug addiction like I was. A top notch facility with top notch staff members. They all have been through the same thing and care very deeply for the well being of their clients. Such a great organization. Elizabeth Steele and Chris Shimels are the best :)
